Easter Letters To…

23.03. - 09.09.2018

Easter’s cosy easter letters are an age-old tradition that is unique to Denmark. Museum for Papirkunst celebrates the tradition!

In the exhibition Easter Letters To… you can experience a selection of historical easter letters from the collection of Nordjyllands Historiske Museum and get a special insight into the popular easter tradition and its development over the centuries. In collaboration with the schools in Jammerbugt Municipality, we show easter letters cut by 5th grade pupils.

Easter letters have been a Danish easter tradition since the 1700s. We cut and compose a short letter with the purpose of “poking fun” at the recipient. If the recipient does not guess the sender, they must give a chocolate egg or kiss to the sender.
